Welcome to North Dorset Railway Trust
Welcome to the Shillingstone Railway Station’s website. This is an exciting time for the North Dorset Railway Trust as we begin the transition to an operational heritage railway. There will be plenty of news to report in the coming months as well as an increasing number of events, activities and volunteer projects.
We are in transition from being a Railway Project to a Railway Station and that will be shown here first. We wish to thank Trustee, Alan Wiseman, for organising the website for the past seven years. His efforts for the Trust have been substantial, and greatly appreciated. We welcome new member, local designer and artist, John Collington, who will be overseeing this website as part of the Publicity committee, and Will Appelbee, local Design & Technology teacher, as the new Editor of Platform.
The Trust is seeking a range of volunteers to help improve the Station as a visitor attraction and to help move the Station towards operational status. There is always plenty to do at the Station. Why not visit the Station any weekend day or any Wednesday and savour the various projects underway during a Guided Tour?
We would love to be able to open the Station more frequently and in order to so we are seeking more volunteers to run the Café. This might suit a couple or single person.
We are open every Wednesday, and weekend days, come a long for coffee, lunch or tea, tour the station and soak up the gardens and beautiful country views!
