steam railway dorset

Step into the shop at Shillingstone Station and you are immediately transported back to a bygone era. Shelves stacked with rows of railway books, tee-shirts with railway motifs and postcards, HO guage Bachmann models and all sorts if other memorabilia. Everything about the place says ‘welcome to the 1960s (and earlier). Our very own ’Arkwright’ (otherwise known as Derek) is ready to s-s-serve you with everything you never knew you needed.

Go to our Merchandise page from the drop down menu beneath the Shop & Café button above and you will be able to browse half a dozen or so gift ideas that you can order direct.

Be patient though - there’s a bit of technical wizardry to get right before the e-shop can be launched but the wait will be worth it, we promise you !

north dorset trailwayAfter a good shopping session, you’ll be needing some sustenance and where better (or closer) to go than our very own station café. Under the expert guidance of manager Alison, you can settle down and enjoy a tea, coffee or chocolate with cake and biscuits. There is always a good selection of filled rolls and pasties at lunchtime plus delicious, locally made soup. For the warmer weather, there are cold drinks, crisps, ice cream and sweets to keep you going if you’re planning a ramble along the Trailway afterwards.

According to season and your own tolerance of the cold, you can eat in the café, in the buffet coach or al fresco on one of the many picnic tables on the platform. And if you’ve brought the family dog with you, there is always a bowl or two of water for steamed up pooches and we can generally find a doggy treat for well behaved canines !
