By the 1980s, the line had been unused for twenty years or so and the result was a scene of sadness. The buildings were used for a varierty of non-railway purposes and Mother Nature was reclaiming the track-bed and surrounding area as these pictures show.
From the 1990s to the early years of the twenty first century, very little happened at Shillingstone station. The buildings remained in use but unloved which led to their deterioration.
